I downloaded my daily sales for several months through the reports area in Square so I can look at trends in my average daily transactions. The download does not include the number of daily transactions nor the average sale. So....I'm going through the dashboard summary report, day by day, to manually add the info to the downloaded report. What I discovered is that in the downloaded report I have days showing sales where the dashboard shows zero (usually a day I was closed but got an online sale) AND gross and net sales in the downloaded report do not match the Square dashboard. I haven't found anything from Square itself as to why there would be a discrepancy between the download and dashboard. And, where a discrepancy exists, the discrepancy amount doesn't correlate with any under/overages in the following days either. A few dollars here or there I get because of rounding and such...Over the period of time of the downloaded report, it's showing collectively hundreds++ discrepancy.
Square is my sales/transaction system of record. Which data is accurate and should be used for sales records? The downloaded reports? Dashboard? Which has the correct data?
