Square rip off

Long time user here. I’m fed up with paying square $200 annually for their services and they still take such a large percentage of my invoices. Their processing fees are ridiculous. To square: Wdym you’re turning a $1,330 project into $1,280? That fee makes a big difference for small business.

Sorry to hear,  I have had six website type services four of them actually being able to accept and process Website order (at fees galore  I had one site that took 10%) .  We have had three very expensive point of sale systems and at least 6 processing companies ( we have been taking credit cards since 1970)  I have found for what square offers in a fairly complete package for the price.  We looked at this very closely in 2020 when we were going to be forced to change, because our older POS system (replacement was going to run us about $10,000 + yearly maintenance fees) was no longer going to be serviceable.  I know if you can get your clients to pay via an ACH for your invoices that will save you some money or they can send in a check for those invoices.

I also know that square has rolled out the ability to add a credit card surcharge (however, I am not sure if you can apply it to the invoice plus add on)  If someone from square or the forum would like to chime in on this that would be great.

I have looked at several systems, and we are always open to changing if something better comes around. However, for our use which is omnichannel, Square offers the complete package. The value they bring, offering us online, mobile, retail, appointments, and the reports to go with them cannot (have not) been beat. I could move to a different system, but the labor costs to make up for the efficiencies Square offers... the math wouldn't math.

Just to echo what the others have stated as far as processors go.  It's unfortunate about the fees , that is just part of doing business. There are probably other companies out there that may have a slightly lower fee.

There are a few different avenues you can go though moving forward.  You can implement those fees into your prices, add on a convenience fee for credit cards or just simply only accept cash or check.
