Plugging in POS screen register

Do we have to have POS plugged in to use screen register? Is there a way without plugging in register to wall

Thanks for writing and welcome to the Seller Community, I noticed it's your first post!

Are your referring to the Square Register customer facing screen? The customer facing display can either stay attached to the back of the larger screen, or be moved further away, and stay connected via an extender cable.
