Using the online store, When a customer clicks on an item, they see a picture on the left and then the item name, the price and a shipping selector before they get to quantity. Is there any way of getting rid of the shipping selector as they should make that decision at checkout.
Here's what I mean: How can I get rid of the stuff inside my badly drawn circle?
Alan
I believe this is just how it is so that the website knows how much to charge you at checkout... they then choose there shipping option at checkout if they want it shipped otherwise they just get the pickup info after purchase... why do you want this gone anyway?
I don't want it for two reasons:
1. The customer has to make the decision at checkout anyway, so why do it twice?
2. I am selling small badges. The customer may buy 10 or 20 or 30 different badges (or more). If they have to make a decision each time - and then do it again at the end - it seems to me to be very inefficient.
Does that make sense?
Alan
I get this, but if they're adding each one to the basket they can do this in large quantities and checkout in one transaction so therefore this shouldn't be a hindrance, could you send the site link so I can take a closer look?
From what I can see they only have to choose when putting the item into the basket and the checkout page then just asks for the correct information, seems just as it should standardly work, the only time it should be any different is if they select a product for shipping and one for collection, but I can't see why this would ever be the case. Hope I could help... Anything else just ask 🙂
Matt,
I think I will just tell our customers to ignore whatever it says on the item page and only choose when they get to checkout. It just seems such a waste showing that information if it's of no use to us - which is why I asked if it could be an option not to show it at all.

Alan
When I look i have to choose on item page as I have no choice on checkout?
When I tried it, I could change it. If even one item was set to 'pickup' then all were changed at checkout time. However, I could change it as shown here:

Well if it saves you any further grief, I wasnt deterred, so if I was buying I would have gone ahead with purchase. Hope this gives you some encouragement! Ask some family/friends to try out (without directing them) and ask for feedback.
If you go through to the actual checkout then it works just fine, you put your details in and it asks where you wanna pick it up
Hi alansh
I had a look at your site, and to be honest, as a customer it isnt an issue. I selected various items into the shopping cart and the the shipping radio button was default selected anyway. When I go to checkout I get to fill in shipping details.
The only possible conflict you may have (which I also have on my site) is if the customer changes options for each product purchased. But God willing this hasnt been a problem for me to-date.
I agree - it's not a big issue. However, my scout leaders are not that good at IT and I was just trying to make things really easy for them.
One thing I've just noticed - if you change from shipping to pickup for one item (or vice versa), that is remembered for all the rest of the things you choose and the checkout option - which is good.
So for now, I can live with this.
Let's close this off. It's not that big a deal.
@alansh - when tested:
First item, it had been set to 'collection' when I clicked on it. Changed in to shipped & added to cart.
Second item - when I clicked on it it had changed the default to shipped.
So seems if they do select as they put the first item in the cart it will change the default for all other items they choose too anyway. This can then be changed at any point including the cart. If a 3rd item is picked & they change it back to collection this will be reflected for the entire order.
Seems a sensible way for it to work.
Precisely, makes sense and is a sensible way for it to work!
