Hi Seller Community. We here at Square are wondering...
If you had to pick one feature you feel Square's platform is missing, what would it be?
We look forward to reading your replies! ๐
I would like to see a price override option. This option will allow you to change the price of any item temporally "for this sale only" on the fly like at the POS counter on the register.
IE. Customer comes to your location, selects an item they wish to buy and requests a lower price due to damage to item or other reasons... (would need manager approval) you would touch the price of the item and change it. then a box would popup for reasons IE Damage, late delivery, price was advertised at a lower price, price match at other stores etc... or Other "type in reason."
I dont think this is much to ask and would benefit everyone using the system
Custom client profiles. Where we can put in notes about the client that shows up when we click their name and not just in a certain appointment.
Something else I would like to see, on theSquare register after a credit card has been ran it will quickly go back to the checkout screen.
Square is sorely missing a BUY NOW/PAY LATER option. As a product based business, this is the number one request.
Square has acquired Afterpay, they announced that back in August. The deal will be closing sometime in Q1 2022.
"The addition of Afterpay, the companiesโ statement said, will โaccelerate Squareโs strategic prioritiesโ for its Seller and Cash App ecosystems. Square plans to integrate Afterpay into its existing Seller and Cash App business units, so that even โthe smallest of merchantsโ can offer buy now, pay later at checkout. The integration will also give Afterpay consumers the ability to manage their installment payments directly in Cash App. Cash App customers will be able to find merchants and buy now, pay later (BNPL) offers directly within the app."
I can't wait because Square's previous financing program barely had time to get off the ground before COVID derailed it. I'd love to be able to offer that in my business.

Yes, Iโm aware. The issue is here comes another holiday season where we will likely not have it. My customers are looking, asking and wanting.
Would love to see a away to do BULK EDITs in the dashboard instead of having to download/upload to a spreadsheet.. For those of us with thousands of items it would be a real time saver! Thanks
Bulk upload of item images...
one more to add: better subscription service that allowed customers to sign up and create a user name and password and manage their subscription account We want to create a monthly gift box with tiered subscriptions (1 month/6 month/12 month pricing) but need the option for people to self serve their subscription (pause, cancel, change shipping address etc)
I should be able to see register/cash drawer activity (history, tickets . . ) on my desktop and in real time. So I would be able to see tickets, know when an item is added to a ticket, know if they add items to the ticket but then deleted them before saving. I should be able to see every time they select "close drawer" just to force the drawer open and then click x. They don't have access to just open the drawer but found a way to cheat the system and you don't track that.
I know you said one thing but it would be great if when you start a register you enter number of bills/coins to get starting number and then do the same when you close out. You are tracking amount tended so you should be able track what bills the drawer should end with to help figure out of balance issue
To be able to print a detailed receipt for both the customer and the merchant.
The ability of doing returns without a receipt... or having to look up the transaction. Such a simple and necessary function in retail, and I know people have been asking for it for years!
Manage inventory at the ingredient level based on the items recipe. For example, if I sell a cheeseburger the system should pull one hamburger patty, one bun, and one slice of cheese from inventory. I think I can do this via an integration but it shouldn't require that and integrations are dreadful. This functionality is available in our previous POS which was worse than Square in every other way.
I would like to group sales tax like quick books. I click on the city in a drop down box and it combines city, county and state tax. I don't like to turn different taxes on and off.
As a photographer, it would be helpful to have an option for online customers to book a certain service at only certain times!
My team love the "Team App" but would love for it to have more communications features. Like a group chat, or a way for management to send push notifications to the team. I know the team management is a newer square system/feature but fleshing it out more would help a ton and keep people from having to search for alternatives.
I second this. It would be very nice to be able to group chat with the team through the Square Team app. We still use another chat app and it is just one more thing that our team needs to download to their phone. It would make more sense for it to be part of the Square Team app.
Bundles would be great. Sell a package/basket/bundle/kit/etc and it is a bundle item that is made up of a group of individual items. The bundle, when sold, reduces inventory accordingly for all of the items that make up that bundle. That would be helpful.
I enjoyed reading the responses so far, and I concur with many of them. I know we were only asked for ONE wish, hopefully it is ok that I am compiling my list of additional wishes that I have: (I use Square Retail and realize some of these features may already be available in other Square systems, but not yet in Retail, or I haven't figured out how):
Thanks, Square, for all you do!! Love the journey that we are on together! ๐ฆ
i agree with bundles! we sell several bundled packages with an alcohol item and a non-alcohol item. the individual items are in separate categories for my city's tax reporting reasons, so i can't bundle them as one item without either paying more tax than needed, or underpaying taxes.
my staff have to ring in the 2 items separately and then apply a bundle discount - 3 steps instead of 1.
@BofBArtStudio is right this is something that needs to be implemented tomorrow

Customer login accounts. This way they can update their information and see past orders.
Have the tip percentages always be applied to the full amount of the sale, NOT after discounts or slit payments. I've always wondered why Square does that, it seems so not intuitive! Thanks!!
Also the ability to apply a discount to a particular item. Say if I discount my labor, it lowers the taxes due, but I don't charge taxes for labor, it is only for my product. So I'd like to be able to apply the discount to individual items. Maybe add a discount/manager override to items in the checkout screen.
