Hello everyone,
I'm new to Square and have recently made a site where I sell handmade Canes/Walking sticks, Staffs, Wands, and Handfasting Cords, and I'm looking to find ways to improve my site in order to attract people to buy them.
the sits address is: drakes-craft-workshop.square.site
This is the first selling site I have made and I know that it's not the best, which is why I'm looking to get some advice on ways to improve it, I've only every sold a few little things on E-Bay before so have no experience about how to run a website and make it look good enough to get customers, so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Richard Drake
Hey Richard - good to see you in the community!
Congratulations on getting your website all set up and running. I do find it a little hard to read with the colour choices and font - this is even when I’m wearing my glasses!
I love the levels of customisation you’ve gone into but I’m actually unable to read the item descriptions on a 15” screen so think with most people looking on their phones these days they may struggle even more.
I actually ended up copying and pasting your descriptions for a couple of items into word to be able to read them - you’ve written some great descriptions and have all the info I’d want before ordering in there so that’s really going to help with your search optimisation too.
Hi Sam,
Thank you for your feedback, I was thinking that it was a bit hard toy read the descriptions, and I have tried to change the font size for them but It doesn't seem to have worked out at all, as there isn't an option when writing the description to change the font size, even I have difficulty reading the descriptions, and I'm on a 24" screen. do you know how I can change to font size in the descriptions for each item?
I think it’s got more to do with font and colour than it has the size.
Could you use the colour in spot places instead, so it keeps your brand colour there but improves readability?
I did use my brand font on mine for a while but have removed it for readability, it was fine for most but not a web friendly for for anyone with any vision difficulties.
Hi @Richard-drake and welcome 🙂
We love to see new faces here on the Community.
Building websites is not the easiest but I think you've done an amazing job! I do agree with Sam, I had a brief look yesterday and my only note was that I found myself squinting a bit at the font and colours.
You can find the steps to customise and change font sizes here.
There are more tips for customisation here.
Some other tips we have would be:
I hope this helps - if you have any questions at all just let us know here!
