Barcode label tool of choice?

Hi all. I'm looking into building a small tool for printing barcode labels from Square, and before I write any code I want to make sure I understand the real problems.

If you sell physical products with Square, I'd love to hear:

  1. What do you use to print labels today (Square's built-in printing, Dymo or Zebra software with a catalog export, another app, handwritten)?
  2. Which Square plan are you on, and did the recent plan changes affect your label printing?
  3. What printer and label sizes do you use? Jewelry tags, shelf tags, anything unusual?
  4. What's the single most frustrating thing about labels right now?

I've read a lot of the older threads here (small prices, limited sizes, no logo, labels behind paid plans) but want to know what still matters today. Thanks!

We use the dymo lablewriter 450 .  love it because it integrates (square built in printing) so nicely but the labels (we bought an off brand that last a bit better then the dymo brand, have a short life expectancy in  our conditions hot sunny humid.  we also can do full sheets of waterproof labels from uline for our laser printer.  square plus, dymo size 30336 avery 5160 avery 5161 (long)

the dymo printer because it so easy is my go to for short runs of labels but the labels do not last long.  the uline weather resistant ones had a bad run (they did not peel well off of the sheet-uber frustrating)  hopefully uline has corrected that.

Great feedback, thanks for jumping in! And I hear you about the temperature issues in the labels. Hopefully your solution works!
