Today, when I tried to logon to run payroll, I noticed my two factor authentication was changed to a different phone number other than my own! This looked like fraud so I called Square support to look into it. The rep then proceeds to say that my account has been locked because it is under review. I asked, what does that mean? He said he doesn't know, he doesn't have any answers because he just works in the retail group and that I would need to call back in the morning to talk to the Account Services Team. I said but what about the two factor authentication security issue? Is that related? Again, he says he doesn't know, call back in the morning. Is this normal for Square to change the two factor authentication on your account if it's under review? What does under review mean anyway? Strangely, I am able to log on to my account but can't make any changes or access my bank or pay my employees. It's essentially frozen, and everytime I do need to make a change, it sends me back to the two factor authentication screen that has a different phone number other than my own. This all seems suspicous and illegal at the same time. If Square truly did lock my account for this "under review" reason, why wasn't I informed about it? Second, how is it legal that my own bank funds are locked? Third, why did my two factor authentication get changed? I can't even pay my employees. Everything is locked. What is going on? Can anyone shed some light on this? I own a brick and mortar beverage takeout shop
