Rituals & Routines for Creativity ✨

Hey everyone!

I'm big on routines to help me get my day started and while I don’t consider myself an artist per say, I'm very interested to know if you have any rituals or routines that help get you into a creative mindset?

I'm excited to learn more about how routines/rituals work for you!

We love a gathering of minds. Our team members are from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We gather to discuss NPD, marketing campaigns through to production challenges and retail initiatives. Over a cup tea and a biscuit we come up with some great ideas 💡. It's a great team to work with and be part of!

You should have a team just for business owners who are 65 and over.

I have no idea what an NPD is. I don't drink tea, and I don't eat biscuits.

And MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I have a morning routine when I first get to the studio to help me prepare for the first client/facial.

I clean up and mop.

Then pull review my schedule for the day.

Prep all my supplies for my first two treatments.

Make the bed and get the music on and the lighting right.

Then pull the charts for all my clients that day.

Then I lay under red light while meditating. --On the floor so I don't have to worry about redoing the sheets!

Then I open the door and get my day going.

That 16 minutes under the red light helps me focus on the day ahead especially when things in the rest of my life are chaotic.  I never want to bring that energy into a session that is about the client.

Sounds like a great morning routine and love that you take time for yourself before jumping into everything!

I like to journal to get creative - this helps me to remove all the distractions from my head so I can be focused and present on generating an idea.

Once I am there, I watch this clip by Alex Hermozi and "talk to" my future self who is 10 years more experienced than me to help me solve this problem, create this new idea, or step into a new growth opportunity.

Over the past year I feel as if I was all over the place, what with designing, learning about surface pattern design for the first time in my 60+ years of age, struggling to get Printful and Square integrated & set up, and struggling to build my website. I am determined this year to be more disciplined and stop neglecting a lot of things that I have been neglecting because of how busy I was. Will have to see how my new daily planned routine pans out as I make time for everything and not just my website and print-on-demand shops. My commitment to God ALWAYS comes first and foremost in my life, followed by family and friends, then business. Unfortunately, although my house isn't dirty, per se, it can certainly use more dusting and cleaning than I have been committed to doing. I watch my grandchildren quite often, but there has been some "neglect" in that capacity as I have spent more time working on my website and such than spending time with them (my daughter has given them devices to play on, much to my chagrin), and that is lost time that cannot be regained. I am determined this year that when I have them, they will have my undivided attention. Routine...something I am not very good at, but I will definitely strive for this year. 😄

Would love to hear how this goes as the year progresses! Love that you are already thinking and working on ways to help with this when your grandchildren visit too!

Routines and Rituals are the necessary tools for self-centering and discovering the necessary balance in conducting your business.

Ritual is an activity with the intent to set in motion the daily rhythm of your business.

Routine is a repeated action necessary to set positive boundaries for yourself and your business.

My Ritual for getting into a creative mindset is something that is often called daydreaming. During this activity, I allow myself to visualize projects as "real-life" possibilities. I do this for 33 minutes during my morning walk. This walk is solitary in a consistent rhythm and it is not interrupted by phone calls.

Hope this is useful.

@DigitalDream I really dig the idea of daydreaming and visualization! Going to try this more too!
