Square Appointments: Class Check-Ins and Purchased Packages in Client Dashboard

Hi everyone,

I’ve been exploring Square Appointments for a yoga studio and testing different workarounds and limitations. I’ve run into a few issues and wanted to see if I’m missing something.

1. Check-ins for class-type appointments:

There doesn’t seem to be a way to check in each person individually for a class. It’s similar to “Mark as complete” for regular appointments, but there’s no equivalent per attendee for group classes. Has anyone found a workaround for this?

2. Clients viewing their packages:

From the client dashboard, there doesn’t seem to be any way for clients to see the packages they currently own. The only time their package appears is when they go to book another class - during the payment step, they can see a package available to redeem.

Is there another way for clients to view their active packages? Any possibility of adding this to the client’s “My Account” page?

Any suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Unnerror

@UmerKhalid is spot on here (thanks for jumping in!) - currently, there's no built-in way to mark attendance for individual attendees in Classes. So, in this case I recommend adding your support to this active Feature Request where we're currently tracking feedback for class attendance functionality.

Regarding your second question about clients viewing their packages, you're right that clients can only see their available packages during the booking process. There's currently no option for clients to view their package details from their client dashboard outside of the booking flow. Since this would be a helpful addition to the client experience, I encourage you to submit a separate Feature Request for this functionality here.

If you have any other questions about Square Appointments, please don't hesitate to let me know!

You are accurate!  There is not a feature/option in Square that allows you to check in clients/customers which is very surprising!!  This is a very basic function that is not offered and it is very frustrating!

Chiming in as a longtime square user for my small pilates studio. I have been asking for square appointments to track class attendance for a some time now. I wanted to message here to see if it can get more attention. I want to be able to see my clients history of attendance in classes just as I do appointments. Right now I book individual clients at the same time when I have a "class" so it tracks their attendance. If I book a class and add clients to it it does not show on their history. I have a paper trail as I keep attendance in a book as well but it would be such a simple and very useful feature to keep using square.

Basic Check-In function should 100% be available. And not so difficult to program.

Come on, Square Team, make it happen quickly !

Just on the phone with their relatively useless CSRs - how can this NOT be a feature yet? People have been talking about it since 2017 or earlier on this forum. I run a day spa / salon with sometimes 40-50 guests coming and going throughout the day with many different service providers. Why would there not be a way that they could check in with a tablet (or the Square Kiosk) at the front then have a seat in the reception? I just don't understand this
