I use Square Appointments, but also have a Square Checking & Savings account.

I recently got married and my legal name has changed, and only then did I realize what an asinine process Square has to update this on our accounts.

I refuse to do a transfer of ownership to myself with a new name (which square says is the only way to legally change the name) because they said I would have to close my square savings account and would not be able to open a new one after the transfer was complete. The Savings account is my favorite square feature, which honestly, is the ONLY reason I haven't switched to another appointments software yet after learning about this (as I'm currently unaware of any other systems offering integrated banking options).

Comparatively, every bank, brokerage account, etc that I have has been a breeze to update my information. Most banks send a link via email which opens a secure portal online in which to upload PDF files of your documentation related to your name change (such as marriage license, social security card, new driver's license etc).

There is absolutely NO logical reason I can think of why Square cannot employ this same (or a similar process) in TWENTY TWENTY-SIX. If American Express can allow me to upload 2 documents proving my name change and update ALL SIX (6) of my accounts (4 personal and 2 business) then there shouldn't be a reason why square can't do the same for my actual Account, and my checking and savings accounts.

I am still the same person. I still have the same EIN and social security number. The only thing that's changing is my last name.

C'mon, Square. I know you can do it.
