The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: make ledger adjustment
hi there! first time posting, but have been using Square for a while.
I have been taking a lot of venmo and groupon payments. how can i make a ledger adjustment in square without the customer getting a notice to pay?
i need to be able to use Square's tools for keeping track of profit.
Thanks so much!!

Hello @dragonlady0627 ! Welcome to the seller community!
When accepting those off-Square payments, I recommend utilizing the "Other Payment Types" payment method. You can usually find that on your list of payment types or by tapping on the Other link on that screen.
As for keeping track of profit, that is really not something Square does. Square is just one tool in a suite of software that you'll need to keep track of all your business details. For best recordkeeping I recommend looking at accounting software like Wave or Quickbooks.

Thanks Ryan! When I use that feature, does the customer get a notification to pay, or can I circumvent that?
Thanks again! 🙂

@dragonlady0627 For in person payments, just don't show the screen to the customer. That way there's no confusion. For online or invoice payments, there isn't an easy way to do that unfortunately.
Your best bet is to have your customer initiate payment from their payment app, show you that it is pending, then you close it to the Other payment type.
Hi @dragonlady0627, thank you for your post. Welcome to the Square Community!
Unfortunately, Square does not have a way of tracking these types of payments. @ryanwanner's workaround for using the "Other Payment Types" method could be helpful to stay organized.
Thank you @ryanwanner for helping out on this one!
