I'm assuming since there's a confirmation button it should do something, right? Also, when does the appointment maker get charged?
I hope this helps. Sounds like you may have square booking assistant turned on in your settings. I use Square Appointments but I have mine set that if the time is available...when a client books the system will automatically accept it. There's no need to confirm or accept an appointment this way. Also, go into your Appointment settings on your dashboard, and perhaps it will be helpful to change when they receive their appointment reminders. Our system sends out an text reminder 3 days before their appointment and the email reminders go out 2 days before.
