I have recently deleted all my modifiers, because my clients wasn’t able to pick their own modifications to their appointment card, so I’m spending more time figuring out what kind of design or add on they want. Also it’s messing with my charges of services. Please help me. Should I be creating modifiers, add-ons, options, variations, and or a whole seperate service. Right now I got a whole new service of options with variations and I can’t see it on my booking site. So lost.
Hi @Chrishana ! I kind of do something similar with my facials. I do facials that have different Add-Ons clients can choose. So I have it set under Variations.
You can see how it pops up for the customer here. https://book.squareup.com/appointments/fa95b0ae-fc2d-41fa-80b4-8e7991945ee4/location/6ZZW6NQDA0Z7J/s...
Hey lovely,
I don’t have nail art options as a modifier instead I have a service called “nail art” in which it has multiple variations to ensure it’s enough time for my therapists . For example a client can add French, or chrome or alternatively if they don’t know what they are having but want something complex in every nail they could choose “tier 3 nail art - (8-10 nails)
hope that helps 🙂 x
Hi! In this circumstance, I would recommend to lay our your service like this:
Service 1 Gel Nails (standard) $x
-- Variation Under Service 1: With Jewels $x+
-- Variation Under Service 1: With Chrome $x+
-- Variation Under Service 1: With Jewels & Chrome $x+
Then repeat it for each service you offer. Hope that helps!
Hi @Chrishana I see your question has been here for a few hours. I’m not an appointments guru, but I’m going to tag some fellow Square Champions here and hopefully one or more of them have some pointers and suggestions they can offer you.

Sorry I can't help on this one - I'm getting a lot of appointments tags but we use appointments only with a custom widget - password protected for new membership sign ups so I don't have a lot of experience with the granular level appointments stuff. We run most of our bookings with an Acuity package that processes through Square.
Can you give a little more context?
Like what the service is called and what exactly you want them to be able to do?
Is it a situation where they can book X nails with X add on but choose the specific add on in person? I’m a hairstylist not a nail tech but if it was coffin nails and then an option for chrome, or bling etc?
With your current solution (core service with variations), is the core issue that you can't see the variation selected on the calendar view? I can see how that would be helpful as well!
The nice thing about your current approach is that you can have custom pricing and timing for the service depending how long each modification takes -- although, I imagine that is a lot of variations.
Perhaps what you're missing is a field that captures the nail design or nail color? One workaround would be setting Customer Profile Fields (Appointments > Online Booking > Settings) based on your unique appt needs. This allows your client to share additional information at the time of booking that appear when you click on the appointment and see the client's profile pop-up.
We use them for accessibility options "ear buds, face mask, larger seating option.." I believe the old data gets overridden the next time they book.

I'm so sorry that I can't help with this one. We don't book our appointments through Square - we absolutely must do it the old fashioned way over the phone. So this is something I'm unfamiliar with. Sorry I can't be of any help!!
