The title of this thread has been edited from the original: VOUCHERS NOT working properly.
I have created a couple of vouchers under instruction from a Square Customer Service person (GREAT CUST SERVICE) however unfortunately it is still not working properly.
1. Voucher is set up to attract a 15% discount across a CATEGORY. Yet it only seems to attract a discount to the LAST item added to the cart from that category, even if I select three items from the same category.
I have TESTED it several times with several items in the category and typed or cut and past the VOUCHER into the window where the voucher is to be entered (in the cart window), yet still only ONE item is discounted, not all the items from that category.
Why?
2. Another voucher that has been set up and used by clients in the past NOW is NOT working since (I presume) an update/changes have been done. 😞
The voucher does not work, a RED note appears reading
[voucher name] does not match a valid gift card.
I am hoping to get some help with what I am doing wrong.

Hi @K9Kaye,
Thank you for reaching out! Apologies for the confusion here - I’d be happy provide some more info. 😊
Category Vouchers
As Bruce mentioned, currently, applying a Square Marketing voucher to a category only applies the voucher to one item in that category.
If you want all items in a category to automatically receive a discount, you could consider setting up an automatic discount instead:
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and navigate to Items & Orders > Discounts.
- Click the Create a Discount button.
- Add a discount name, the amount type ($ or %), and the discount amount.
- Toggle on Discount rules.
- Select Item or Category.
- Click Add Individual Items and include each item from that category.
- Make any other selections and hit Save.
(I've included some screenshots at the bottom of this post so you can see how this looks in the Square Dashboard).
Voucher Code Errors
- The message [Voucher Code] does not match a valid promo code or gift card appears when an expired voucher code is entered at checkout.
- The message [Voucher Code] does not match a valid gift card appears when a second voucher code is entered while another code is already applied. At this time, customers can only use one online coupon code at a time during checkout.
If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Hi @K9Kaye,
I wish i could give you more positive news but It seems you arent going to be able to apply the coupon to all items from a category.
It seems a concious decision to only apply this to the most expensive item:
This came about as coupons were migrated from sqaure online, back to the dashboard:
https://squareup.com/help/au/en/article/8381-important-changes-to-your-square-online-coupons
Category-specific coupons now apply once per order to the most expensive eligible item instead of being applied to each eligible item in the order.
The non working voucher may also be a consequence of this migration (check the other entries on the page I listed).
Regards,
Bruce

not solved - can't you just allow this option in the coupons? I find it very frustrating that the move away from the old coupon option has made it harder. We create a new coupon for every EDM against new products etc and the above is not a viable solution.

Sorry to hear this workaround isn't suitable for you, @PJ6.
At this time, only one Square Marketing coupon can be applied at a time during checkout. While this isn’t something that’s currently available, I encourage you to visit our Ideate board to check if there's an existing feature request for this. If so, please add your comments to support it, detailing how it would positively impact your business. If there isn't one already, please feel free to create a new request and invite other Sellers to share their support on the thread.
