Why am I receiving an error message that my .au Domain is already connected to another site?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Connecting My .AU Domain. 

When I try to connect my .AU domain that is registered somewhere else I get the message

 

"This domain is already connected to another Square Online site. Remove it from that site in order to proceed."

 

I've followed the instructions to add the DNS entries to my host site. How do I resolve this issue?
