What is the best way to print order tickets using labels? I'm setting up Square in a small coffee cafe at my church and would like to print drink orders tickets on a label to stick to the cups. I see I can use the Star printer with Max stick paper... but it seems very expensive. Any suggestions?
Hey y'all ! The wait is over... Single Item Printing is now LIVE in the Point of Sale app. 🥳️
Now you can print individual tickets for drink and/or food orders and their modifiers.
Take it a step further with printing tickets on sticky labels! My friend @AprilMarie gives you the run down about label printer and sticky labels support for iOS devices here, and @Helen shares the details for label printer and sticky labels support for Android devices and Square Register here.
I hope this message finds you well! Let us know if you need further guidance.✌️
Hi @Arctic. We're not running a beta for label printing - I'm really sorry! I wonder what system that business was using. 🤔

This is a huge need for the coffee shops square serves. I have shopped several other POS systems and this is a common feature among them. When can we expect this feature to be added?
Hey @ThinkCoffee - Sticky label printing has been released in POS version v.5.21 for iOS and v5.23 for Android. You'll need a Star Micronics TSP654K printer with maxstick paper to do so.
To get started, be sure to group your drinks to a specific category then assign it to your printer.
I hope this help!
Do both the USB and ethernet versions of Star Micronics TSP654K work with Square Register?
Hi @bruswain -
Great question! Here is a link to a table of all the compatible third party devices. This shows you the list of devices and our hardware they work with.
If the device this not on this list, we cannot guarantee it will function properly.
sorry, that chart doesn't help. My question is in response to the new compatibility of Star Micronics TSP654K posted by JustinC
Or was that always compatible but not with Register?
Hey @bruswain - Yup! Make sure the software is updated on your Register - sticky printing became available with version v3.15/3.16 !
Is the "Print Single Item Per Ticket" option planned for Square for Restaurants?
I'd also be curious of other peoples experience with Maxstick paper and the Star 654SK. I tried it out and had a lot of problems with multiple orders binding up and not printing correctly.
What printers are compatible other than the 654sk with the order ticket system for printing single items? They do not have to work with the label paper but with just regular thermal paper.
Hey @ThinkCoffee - @Kassi_'s post above includes a link of all compatible 3rd party hardware. I hope this helps!
@cbenson - I reached out to a member of the Product Team and unfortunately sticky printing is not available with Square for Restaurant, just the Standard Point of Sale. I don't have an ETA on when it'll become available but I'll let you know here when I hear an update. Thanks for your patience!
I have seen this list. Can you detail which printers will allow single item tickets to be printed? That feature is not detailed on this list.
does any1 know if TSP654II support single print order for pos?
thnx
@ThinkCoffee - you're right, the single item tickets feature is not detailed in that list. It's a setting that you enable in your device printer settings, so as long as you choose a printer that's listed in the compatibility link above and your POS software is up to date, single item ticket printing will be available to you.
@xogonjai - it sure does! 🙂
@JustinC thnx for info.so only TSP654SK support sticky paper?and TSP654II doesnt support sticky paper
@xogonjai - you got it! 😉
Hi @JustinC! Quick question. with the sticky label printing, do I still need the Fresh KDS app, or am I able to do it with square POS by itself? Thank you for the clarification!
Confirmed that this works on Square Terminal with USB using the recommended printer.
However, the sticky tickets are too big. I know there are narrower maxstick rolls, but is there a setting to print smaller, or reduce the text and the amount of margins and amount of info that is printed on the sticky tickets? See attached size, thanks!
Hi Everybody.
I’m still using KDS Fresh for our coffee shop orders and I do like it.
we now want to add stickers to the cups.
I know square and KDS has options to do this.
ive read through dozens of threads. and I don’t see what I’m looking for.
Can I print individual drink labels directly from our square stand and still use KDS as normal?
I guess I’m just verifying. What is the better option before dropping quite a bit of money for a label printer. Since of course the two options wouldn’t use the same printers.
Nope, you don't need the Fresh KDS app to print sticky labels, you can do it with the Standard POS software itself.
I hope this helps!
@JustinC you mentioned listed in the compatibility link work with single ticket.now i using tsp143iiu with square stand,on the print setting i dont see single item feature. current version 5.28
