Hi - I have a domain bought in weebly and hosted in weebly. (www.cemccp.com) How do I create a subdomain (done this in many other hosts) to be something like www.subdomain.cemcpp.com
I have searched the community and there are several references to external domains, free weebly and so on, but not my query. Any help appreciated Thanks.

This is actually a simple task to accomplish.
After logging in to Weebly, click the Domains tab, then click the domain. In the center of the page you will see DNS RECORDS. Click EDIT.
Now, click +Add Record, and select "A Record" from the "Type" drop down. The "Host" will be the subdomain you want, and the "Points To" is the IP Address which you can copy from your other A Records. Now click Save.
Once you have created the subdomain, it can take up to 24-48 hours for the DNS change to propagate.

Hi this is confusing for me. Once the subdomain is created, how do we point a Medium blog to it?
Basically we have a domain name registered via Weebly, a websiteon it, and we want to create a medium blog on a hosted subdomain of blog.ourweeblydomain.com.
How do we do this?

Hello! Just to confirm, you're looking to have a blog hosted on Medium, using a subdomain of your Weebly domain? If that's the case, you'll want to contact them directly for the proper DNS settings, then place them in keeping with the instructions here.

I'm trying to make a subdomain that will point to a website hosted by another provider. I have the IP address for that hosted site, and of course it is different than the IP address shown for my other A records. It sounds like I should put the external IP address into the "points to" entry in the form, is that correct? I tried that but so far I'm still getting 404 errors (maybe I just need to wait?).
Also, do I need to make different entries for www.subdomain.mydomain.com and subdomain.mydomain.com?

Hi @Adrian_A
What is the domain name? And yes, it is possible you may need to wait. It can take up to 24-48 hours to update. (Usually happens within the hour, though)
You won't have www.subdomain.mydomain.com. It's either www.mydomain.com or subdomain.mydomain.com

My setup is similar, but I want to keep things in the Weebly family. I have a domain (www.mymainbusiness.com) and I have created a sub-domain per the instructions by adding an 'A Record' to the DNS Records for newbusiness which I perceive means that the new subdomain will be newbusiness.mymainbusiness.com. I'm testing out a new service that I'd like to create a simple website for that is separate from my main website. I plan to create a free Weebly site that uses the subdomain to start. If it takes off, then I'll either upgrade the package, or buy a separate domain.
The thing I can't figure out is how I get the new subdomain newbusiness.mymainbusiness.com to point to a new Weebly page?
Thanks!

Once you've pointed your subdomain to Weebly's IP, you can use that as the address of a site in the same way as any regular domain. Just change the address of the site to the subdomain and re-publish. If you bought the domain elsewhere the site will need to be upgraded; if you bought the domain through us, you don't need to do any DNS configuration and don't need to upgrade the site either.

You can still use a subdomain of your custom domain name as the address of a site, though you will need to upgrade the site to a paid plan in order to do so.

Hi @ROBOROBO Click on the Domains tab then the three dots to the right of the domain name. Although, it does look like your dns is controlled at Yahoo. Is this a domain that you recently transferred to Weebly?

I am trying to do the same thing. I bought my domain through Weebly and I have an educator's account. Is it possible to add a subdomain? I tried the steps mentioned above - adding the subdomain under host name and pointing it to the original IP address. I get a 404 error message, Any help is appreciated.

If you bought the domain through us, you shouldn't need to add anything with your DNS since we have a wildcard record (this means that pretty much any subdomain will work automatically). All you need to do is enter the full subdomain as your site address on the Settings tab and it should work.
