How do I know if square will send me a w2 and when?  When is ready online to view?

Hello again!

Employers had from 1/9/2018 to 1/14/2018 to make changes to the W-2 forms before they were mailed out earlier this month. 

If you're an employee and you didn't receive your W-2 contact your employer.

If you're an employer and you need help with your W-2 forms, contact Square Support directly.

Hi I actually have a similar issue. I still haven't received my W2 and I contacted my former employer to see where it was and he said it should have been sent out by now. Any helpful suggestions?

Hey @levidavis - Your former employer is correct in that it should have been sent out by now to the mailing address that they had on file for you. If you did not receive it, I would reach back out to them and they should be able to access a digital copy for you. They can find the steps on how to find your form at Distribute Square Payroll Form W-2.

Hi @K2018,

We can't distribute or send you your W-2 forms from here but this thread has more information on how to access it from your employer.

If you have the Square Team app- you can also login to it and go to Settings > Tax Forms and it'll redirect you to an employee Dashboard where you can download.

I’m helping a friend out, he needs a w-2 from the time he worked for an employer that used square in the past but the merchant account is deactivated. Is there a way to pull it through customer support if he had the business ID?

Here's an article that explains how W2s work in Square:

It looks like you'll need to either contact your employer directly to have them download a copy for you or you can log into your account and retrieve it yourself if you've got online access to Square.
