When I was using a different web host and using Square to process my payments, In square all sales showed as Custom amounts.  When I looked at my report for Online sales from my host it showed the item plus tax which equalled the charge showing in Square.  I think what happens is the Payment acceptor in this case Setmore sees your item at $10.00 your selling price and then is should add a Sales tax you set of say $3.24 or some amount and then Square just sees a custom amount of $13.24 being processed for the Transaction.   Look at your setting in Setmore to see which item(s) we sold and and if a sales tax was added.  If the sale through setmore is similar to an online sale and shipped out of state, you may not be required to collect the sales tax, but check if that is correct as sales tax laws keep changing to get more tax money from these types of sales.

Somewhere in Setmore you should see how much was collected for the sale in taxes, so you would need that and squares reports if you have taxes with Square sales too and not just the Custom amount.  When I first started with Square and did not have my inventory in Square, I rang up in person sales with an old cash register that added taxes in for me.  Saw the total and typed it in to a tablet as a custom amount total.  That was all that showed in Square reports.  I then had to print out at the month a receipt showing the Sales Tax collected to input for sales taxes I owed.  This was not the best way to do things but showing that the total Custom amount you see from Setmore is just sent for CC processing Total and not the items and then sales tax for Square to see.

Glad my previous answer helped make sense of this for you.

Hey, thank you for your reply. What you said makes more sense than anyone on Setmore’s team and Square lol. Both Setmore and Square taxes are set up for the state of Texas, but I keep running into that issue of a custom amount on Square side. I think it cannot differentiate the sales tax from its third-party apps.
