Does the magstripe reader have to be connected to its device to recharge a declined transaction?

I have a transaction that was taken while it was offline so it declined it. Do I need to attach the magstripe reader to my device to be able to recharge the transaction?

Hello @JIShuler49, I'm sorry to hear you had an offline payment decline. I know that's an unpleasant surprise.

 

In the event a payment declines, you'll need to contact your customer to reprocess this transaction. The customer can either provide you with their card details and you can Manually Key in Card Payments Without The Square Reader. Or you can meet up with the customer in person to process the transaction. 

 

If this customer received an email receipt our Support Team can reach out to the buyer upon your behalf!
