Changing bank account for deposits when no edit button appears

We are in the process of changing our bank accounts but cannot figure out how to change our deposit account in Square. There is no button to edit the bank account info when we login to our account dashboard. We can view the current bank account that is linked to our Square account but cannot change it.

Hi @mariarevolution, thanks for posting and welcome to the Seller Community 👋.

Not seeing a "change" or "edit" action button is expected behavior. You'll need to select "add a new bank account" instead :

  1. From the Bank Accounts tab, click on the name of your currently linked bank account.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Add External Bank Account.
  3. Enter your Square account password to start the new bank verification process.
  4. Add your new bank account information and click Verify. The name you add for your bank account doesn’t have to be the name on the actual account – add anything that will help you identify this account.

I hope this helps, but let me know if you have any questions !

@MCDPTX

From your dashboard, go to Accounts & Settings -> Account -> Bank accounts.  You’ll see your active bank account, along with a blue “Change Bank Account.”  Click that and go through the verification process.

Also, note that at the bottom, if you use Square Payroll you’ll need to change that account link as well.

Was my post helpful? Take a moment to mark it as a possible "best answer." I hate the term, and wish we could just mark posts as "helpful." But this is our only mechanism at the moment. Just remember "Best answer" should be interpreted as "helpful," and nothing more. LOL. "Best" (ugh) answers help folks possibly find solutions to similar problems they are hoping to solve.

I did that and tried to change it, but every time I try I get an automated “Account suspended” message. Our account is still working just fine and it still transfers payments into our old bank account that we haven’t been able to close because of this issue.

Wow.  Very odd.  Sorry to have you try that again, since you already did it.  Sometimes folks think they are in the right place, and aren’t, so I try to outline specific steps to be sure.  Anyway, I’m not sure what is going on but it sounds like something you need to talk to a human at support about.  Something hidden inside your account seems to be causing this issue.  In case you don’t have it, here’s the link to contact Square Support.  I would not recommend chat, but rather voice.  Be prepared to be on for a while.  I’m betting this will take some research and even a transfer or two to find the person who can resolve this for you.

I wish you well!

I having the same issue. There is simply no "Change" or "Edit" button to click anywhere on the Bank Accounts page. I am logged in as the Administrator/Owner.

@Hey there @MCDPTX hopping in as well. I am sorry you are having issues changing your bank account! To confirm are you the owner of the account? I ask since you stated in the original post you are not seeing the option to edit bank. I know you are saying now you are getting an error, but if you aren't the owner then you won't be able to edit the bank information. For this inquiry, you will need to speak with support as @TheRealChipA stated. We will need to look at your account settings and for security, we cannot discuss those things here.

If you need anything else please let us know!
