How to remove "Most Popular" Item Category

I'm finding it very frustrating asking for help for simple tasks. Some of the information from CS is incorrect. It would be helpful to have a manual, which is common for any software. I pay for an updated subscription but that doesn't make much of a difference. It takes days for a response by email but I found the online chat useless. The email responses are about 1/2 correct, I can typically figure it out on my own after this.

 

Example: I asked how to remove the Most Popular items from the online store: 

 

Thank you for reaching out to Square Online and Weebly Support, my name is ____. And I'll be glad to assist you today,

To rearrange the items displayed on your Order Online page:

  1. From your Square Online site editor, open the Order Online page.
  2. In the editing panel, select Item list > Arrange & add items.  **(I STILL HAVE NOT FOUND ARRANGE & ADD ITEMS, OLD INSTRUCTIONS?)**
  3. Toggle the Most popular and Recent order options to show customers what items are popular on your menu. If the customer has placed a recent order, they’ll see the items from their recent order instead.
  4. Drag and drop items in the order you prefer.
  5. Publish your site to see the changes live.

Note: Enable customers to view their recent orders by upgrading your Square Online subscription.

***Correct Answer: Remove most popular category

1) Edit Site 

2) Item List

3) View Items

4) Most Popular should be at the top with the sliding "toggle" as they call it. It's been automatically selected. Slide it so it turns from blue to gray. I was unable to capture it on the snipping tool.

5) Publish to save.

I believe the disconnect is CS saying go to Arrange & add items. Many others have had issues finding this. Screen shots would be helpful. I have previous training experience with many different software programs and I never saw arrange and add items. You can arrange items and categories, but there is nothing called arrange & add items. In order to add items, you have to do it from your original dashboard, not from the online site.

@Summer2024,

 

I just removed my Most Popular category using @KIB2014 instructions (very helpful - worked perfectly) BUT I actually really want the 'most popular' section to be the most popular items. I'm happy to have it there, but my problem is that what is showing as Most Popular isn't actually most popular, so I removed it.

 

1. Is it possible to get it to show what the most popular items are?

2. Are they automatically selected based on sales? And if so, then there's something wrong with it cause it's incorrect for me.

I noticed this as well. The most popular selections are likely the most clicked items on the website, not the most sales. You could possibly create a new category for the most popular items and add your own selections.

Absolutely! I've also noticed the solutions from support are voted best answer, by support. I've tried the "best answers" posted by support, they don't work. I look for answers from actual users.

Regarding the "Most Popular" item categories, I reached out to the Square Online Team for more context. They let me know that the Most Popular items are based on items sold through Square Online.

When checking your sales reports against the Most Popular items, are you looking at your sales for Square Online only or Square Online and In-Person? Please let me know.

Their team can also reindex your products and categories to see if you get a more accurate Most Popular items selection if that's something you'd like to try.

In my case, it wasn't based on online sales. Most Popular items showed up before opening my shop for sales, so how was it generated? After opening my shop for two weeks, two of the Most Popular items had not been sold online, only in person. I would not call these items popular for in person sales either.

I wonder how long they look back at to determine the most popular?  E.g. is it the most popular over the last month, year, since the site opened?  Is it the total count of the items sold, or is it the number of people who have purchased it?  E.g. if someone buys 4 of an item, does that count as 1 or 4? 
Curious as I have many items you would only buy 1 of but others where you would mostly buy multiple, so will those items you only buy 1 of ever make it to most popular?
Trying to understand to see if it's worth using, or if I should manually select what items I feature.  Or do I just go with "recently ordered"?
