When scanning item in register, nothing happens

New to square - I set up items in register with UPC codes input in the SKU box in item set up. Once saved and I scan the item at the register nothing happens. I expect it to add the item to the current check. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

 

I've input the upc manually through the online dashboard and scanned it in in item setup on the register. What am I missing?
