Security Permissions Required on Square Terminal to Disable Passcodes

Since receiving a new square terminal for retail we no longer require an individual pin to access the terminal and it says I don't have permission to access the security settings on the terminal even though I'm an owner and as far as I'm aware have all permissions granted.

If you're encountering this error message while logged into your Owner profile, weโ€™ll need to review your permission settings.

To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Team page on your Square Dashboard.

 

2. Find and select your Owner profile from the list.

 

3. Scroll down to the Permissions section and click Edit.

 

4. Choose View Owner to open your permission profile.

 

5. Scroll down to Account & Settings and make sure all options are toggled ON.

 

6. Click Continue, then ensure all access points are selected, and click Done followed by Save.

Next, to disable the passcode requirement on your Square Terminal:

1. Go to More > Settings > Security.

 

2. On this page, you can toggle the passcode settings OFF. You may need to enter your Owner passcode a few more times, which you can reference from your Owner profile in your Square Dashboard if needed.
