I received emails from Square with REJECTED unknown charges - two emails. One with a charge that didn't go through and the other from Square saying a charge was rejected because it came from an unserviced country. Should I do something to further protect my money? Thank you, everyone. Emily

Hi @EmilyAndros. I’ve never heard of Square emailing any seller about declined/rejected charges. Even when online store users are declined for whatever reason, they receive the notice right then and there, and they are given the chance to try a different card. There is a log of declinations, but I think that is as far as it goes.
I strongly suspect these are not from Square, but rather phishing scams. Don’t click on any links or open any attachments, if there are any. But do go to the email header and click on the sender to see what the email address is. If it is not xxxxxx@squareup.com then it is not from Square. You are being scammed and should just ignore them.

@EmilyAndros That is definitely a very valid Square email address. Anything ending in squareup.com is valid. And if these charges don’t seem right to you and you don’t remember purchasing anything from an overseas web site, then you should lock your card and request a new one. Also, check your recent activity to be sure there aren’t others you need to dispute.
Get online and go to Dashboard -> Balance -> Select Location. Click on the settings gear at the top-right, and select “Lock card.” This will cause all further transactions to be immediately rejected.
Then click on “Get help with Checking.” Pick the problem that is yours, the click on the “Deactivate and replace” button. Follow those instructions to get a replacement card.
If you need live human help, get on the phone with Square Support on Monday after 6am PST.
If you need anything else, let me know. Good luck!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my post. I went back and looked at the two different emails and they both come from
noreply@messaging.squareup.com
Does that seem like a legit email to you?
There were two emails - one saying a charge that I MADE hadn't gone through (with a vendor I hadn't heard of but when I Googled the name, it appeared to be ok or maybe ok) and a second saying this:
"Your recent $1.00 transaction at Temporary Hold using Square Debit Card (ending in 2432) was declined because you attempted to pay a merchant who is in an unsupported country."
That second email was the one that concerned me since I hadn't tried to charge anything with someone overseas. Do you think I need to do something to double protect myself because maybe someone has my Square credit card number???? If so what? Should I request a replacement debit card?
Thank you again. Emily Andros
