DragonTouch Android tablet and reader

I have a dragontouch android tablet that will recognize the reader inserted into headset jack, but will not recognize card swipe.  running 6.0.1

Hi @dthomason - Have you checked our device compatibility page to see if your device is compatible? I don't see DragonTouch tablets listed there, but not sure if that's a brand since I'm not that familiar with Android devices.

You might also want to call in to our Support Team to get some troubleshooting help!

Square likes to keep things as expensive as possible for merchants so in spite of their claim that the headset jack reader works at an OS level, it does not. And if you've paid for that reader to find this out the hard way, there's $10 gone. They really should remove the claims that this has anything to do with the Android version because if its not a name brand tablet on their list, it's not going to work.

However for only $49 more you can get the Bluetooth reader that's guaranteed to work with every device. I wonder if that's true.

Or you can do painfully slow manual card entry and pay the highest tier of fees.

There's still no support for DragonTouch and this tablet has been around for 3 years. I'm more inclined to drop Square than I am to upgrade my tablet or pay for yet another reader.
