Cash collected always different than "cash sales" in daily report

I currently do not use the in app cash management tool. I am using only one device and the cash that I take out of the drawer every day at the end of business after discounting the amount started within the cash register is always a bit higher when compared to "cash sales" data in the daily activity sales report. I imagine I am missing a formula to account for tax or something along those lines but every time I try I can't seem to get it correct. Is there something I am missing? Thanks
