I am going to have another business move into my space with me. We want to remain separate businesses but want to have one register for customers. Is there a way to have all of our inventory in square retail but attached to our separate businesses and bank accounts for transfers?

While it may be technically viable to do this using locations, as each location can have its own tax id number and gets its own cc tax form. It would be difficult to execute as you would be required to switch between locations for each store each time you want to use the other stores checkout. it takes 10-20 seconds to do this each time. having all your inventory in one location is not going to separate your 2 businesses enough for sales reports and tax purposes. plus if you are sharing a cash drawer that will really complicate closing out and balancing the drawer.
I would simply advise the best solution is a Square Stand with iPad for each store at the register area. they are super sleek and take up just the room of an iPad and each will be connected to its own cash drawer and printer.
