Square Team App to Sync with Calendar when Schedules for a Shift

This request is more so for Square Shifts or Square Teams, but I did not see an option to create a request in those categories, so I chose the next best thing.

 

I have compared apples to apples to leave Homebase and Gusto so that Square manages my Shifts, Team Communications, and Payroll.  For the most part, the Square team has done an amazing job developing everything a business would need, and being quite encompassing to include everything the others softwares have.

 

The ONLY thing I cannot seem to find is how to get shifts in Square Team to sync with Google and Apple calendars. I've searched to find forums on this and could not find any requesting this.  Apologies if I have missed it.

 

This request is simply requesting the ability for calendar syncing when I am scheduled for a shift. Most people use either Google or Apple to manage their days.  It would not make sense for teams to manage another calendar (and have to remember to check an additional calendar) everyday.

👋 thanks for all the input and 100% recognize the resounding desire and need for shift calendar sync across all our sellers. 

The team's in the process of prioritizing this across a number of other priorities and unfortunately I don't have any formal guidance on if/when this will get delivered. As soon as I do, I'll circle back with updates!

Wanted to first acknowledge everyone's feedback -- we 100% agree that this is a critical capability that sellers (and their teams) need to conveniently manage their schedules/shifts directly on their personal calendars. 

 

I'll also mention that this is not intentional/by design -- we've had a number of competing priorities across the Square Shifts space in recent months (i.e., we recently launched a new hour-by-hour schedule day gantt view as well as a brand new time off report to track historical time off records which we'd love for you to check out!).

 

Calendar integration is now one of our team's top priorities and we anticipate shipping something in the coming months. As I have more concrete details, I'll circle back on this thread to share updates! Appreciate everyone for continuing to voice their feedback and ideas -- it's how we can continually improve our products at Square for all our sellers!

👋 Jerry from Square again. We're actively scoping out calendar sync capabilities and would like to get some input from everyone as we design the best experience possible to suit you and your team's needs.

 

Calendar sync will enable you to subscribe (in a calendar app of your choice i.e., Apple, Google, Outlook) to your Square Shifts schedule via a calendar URL. As part of this, I want to gauge:

a) How important is configurability around what types of shifts sync? The running assumption is for most team members, most helpful would be syncing all of their own shifts. For owners however, is it helpful if you could further configure which shifts are included in the sync i.e., which locations, which job types, or only yours v.s. all your team's shifts?

 

b) How important is the ability to create 2 or more calendar URLs you could subscribe to separately, each with slightly different configurations for which types of Square Shifts sync? Would this be helpful for location / department management or is a single calendar URL sync more than enough.

 

c) Beyond basic elements like name, location, date, time, and shift notes for a scheduled shift, are there any other elements you or your team would want to see as part of the calendar sync feature?

a) I agree that yes the most helpful is each team member being able to sync their own shifts. I also believe it would also be great for owners to be able to sync all team's shifts to a calendar also. 

 

b) I'm not entirely sure I 100% understand this. I think having all available options for syncing would mean all types of businesses of all different sizes would be happy and have options.

 

c) no other elements needed (in my opinion) other than the ones you mentioned.

Hi Jerry - thanks for the update, very exciting!  Was just looking for this, so I'll answer while I'm here:

 

a) "My own" (as an individual) as well as "My whole team" (as a manager / owner) are the must-haves for me.  "My whole team" is more important

 

b) For me the single calendar URL is enough, but I only have one location.  Prob useful, but not a must-have for me.  

 

c) Those data points are perfect - name, date, time, notes
