Why is my receipt printing a hashtag symbol in front of the order ticket number for cash payments?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Help! Cash payments prints a hashtag in front of order tickets number (not intended)

Hi,

Im having an issue where Cash payments are printing "#" in front of the order tickets number.

For example order stub "4" will print as "#4" in the kitchen. It never used to print #, then all of a sudden it prints that way.

We use # to identify whether they are dine in / takeaway, now it just confuses everyone working if we take cash payments.

Is there a way to disable the hashtag on order tickets?

p.s. the order tickets are on "auto-assign ticket numbers" setting on POS settings.

Regards,

Jeff

Hi @Middleman1,

Thanks for reaching out with your question.

There's no way to disable this symbol through Square I'm afraid. I recommend reaching out to the printer company (i.e., Star Micronics or Epson) to see if there's any changes they can make on their side.

In the meantime, it sounds like the Dining Options feature could be beneficial to your checkout flow. When you’re processing a sale on the Square Point of Sale app or Square Restaurant POS app, you can note whether customers are dining in, taking their items to go, or requesting delivery. Your selected dining option will appear on your receipts, order tickets, sales history and reports.
