Hi everyone,
We operate a restaurant in a food court using Square POS, and we have one request and two questions regarding QR code ordering.
🔳Request 1
We reached out to Square Support to ask how to remove the message "We'll send order status updates to +1-xxx" that is sent to customers after they place an order. However, we were informed that this message cannot be removed.
Since our restaurant operates with a name-call pickup system, this message can be misleading for customers, causing confusion. We would like to request an option to remove or customize this message to better fit our ordering process.
🔳Question 1
How can we send order status updates to the phone number entered by the customer?
Is it possible to send "Order-ready Texts" to customers' phone numbers in QR code ordering, similar to how it works with Square Kiosk?
🔳Question 2
Regarding the website design for QR code ordering, we would like to remove the "Most Popular" section. How can we do this?
We would greatly appreciate any insights or guidance from those familiar with these features.
Thank you!

Hey @KOHD, Thanks for reaching out.
Request 1 - Can you provide a screenshot and confirm where you’re seeing this message? I’d like to double-check if there are any current workarounds.
In the meantime, you can update the messaging to help reduce confusion by going to Square Online Dashboard > Fulfillment > QR Code Ordering > Edit > Edit Messaging and adding clarifications.
Question 1 - You can enable "Order Ready for Pickup" text message alerts directly in the QR code ordering settings. To check this, go to Square Online Dashboard > Fulfillment > QR Code Ordering > Edit > Text Message Alerts and toggle on Order Ready for Pickup.
Question 2 - Can you share your website URL along with a screenshot of where you see the "Most Popular" section? This will help determine if it can be adjusted or removed.

Hello @KOHD ! I'll do my best to help you, and answer things best I can.
Regarding;
- Request 1 - I don't think it's possible to remove what you are requesting, so a product enhancement would be needed. You can check to see if anyone else has requested this (and add to their request), or you can submit a new feature request here - https://community.squareup.com/t5/Feature-Requests-Ideate/ct-p/Beta-Feature-Requests
- Question 1 - Yes, it should be possible to do this, assuming your customer has entered their phone number for the "notify when ready", by clearing the item from the KDS Expeditor. I believe there is a setting on the KDS to "notify when ready" that you must enable.
- Question 2 - I "don't" think so, as I have not figured out how to do that either. I did a quick search of the community forum and didn't see this either. Maybe a fellow Champion can verify if it can be done or not?
Hope this helps. Update here if needed.

@KOHD From my memory, the QR code ordering is much like ordering off the website. I am assuming you are not dropping the orders off at specific tables.
I think you can edit the site to remove that option, I also think that the name gets associated just like an online order for the QR orders so you should have both available. Little trick I use, set up a 100% discount code and then place an order and run that code so you can see the way it works in real time. But the updates populate to the phone numbers just like online and kiosk orders when you clear them in order manager or kds.

Hi, @Donnie-M
Thank you for your kind and helpful response.
It’s great to know that, just like online website and kiosk orders, we can also set up notifications to be sent to phone numbers after clearing the order in KDS. I will test this at the store today.
I really appreciate your valuable insights. This was very helpful!
