It has been well over a year since we stated asking for this change. As a Restaurant, I love how the store works for online orders, and you seemed to have put in a lot of effort to catering to those that have restaurants and use on-line ordering, BUT it's very unprofessional to have our food items state "Out of Stock", and "Low Inventory" instead of "Sold Out" and "Only a few left"
Where are we with this? Come on guys! Give us options

Hi @PSGC,
Thanks for reaching out for an update on this.
I’ve had a look at two of the related feature requests, and also reviewed our product developer conversations around the topic. Unfortunately while it has been discussed on several occasions, there is nothing on the immediate roadmap that will allow for the customization of the text on these inventory badges.
The best way to lend your support to these feature requests, would be to drop a comment directly on the one that would best match your business use-case. You can check out the existing feature request threads here, and here. Or, feel free to add a feature request of your own, if you don’t feel your business needs are represented in the current requests.

Hey @twistedSicilian,
Thank you for writing back into the community and shining a light on this feature request!
We recently released a sold out feature, allowing you to mark items as sold out to prevent it from being sold online both Square Online and Square Point of Sale app. I understand that this isn't the exact feature you're looking for, but we continue to advocate for the suggestions you submit with us and will let you know about updates to this request as soon as we have news to share!

NO, this isn't the feature I was looking for. We always had that option via inventory control, and the only difference I see is now it says "sold out" on the POS app.
It's not hard to tweak this, and I'm not sure why this is such an issue for us. Like I said, it looks very unprofessional and we have been dealing with it for way too long now.

Just the ability to change how the text reads would be helpful for our individual situations. I want my customers to know we sell a certain item but it’s “not available” at this time.

Welcome back to the Community, @TMD -
This is some excellent feedback on the customization of those inventory badges.
I would be happy to get this over to our Product Team as a Feature Request for the Online Store.

Yes, please make this choice available. It would look much more professional if our purchased artwork worth thousands of dollars in our online store said "Sold" rather than "Out of Stock".

Hi @ablamb,
I see this is your first post. I just want to say welcome to The Seller Community!
Although this feature isn’t currently available with Square, it’s a great idea and I can see how it would be beneficial to your business. I would submit this feature request through https://squ.re/ideate.
Our Product Team is constantly looking to improve the software for our users. Once the request is submitted you can keep track of it through the Ideate board.
To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators.
Thank you again for providing you feedback on this feature!

We would also love to have the ability change the verbage on the online store. I just switched from Shopify, and they have this ability. When the stock gets sold out, or below a certain point, I can have it say "Check In-Store" instead of "Out of Stock". If it says OOS, then the customer will not even bother to come in or call and see if we actually have it in stock. BTW, the reason this is important, is because I like to have a couple extra in store just in case we sell it so fast that I am not able to fulfill the online purchases before the store sells out.

Thank you for sharing your interest in this feature @FlightTeam. At this time the Stock in your Online Store is shared and synched with the stock in your store so our system expects that if you run out of stock of a product online this means that you don't have anything in the store and vice versa.
However, I can definitely see where this can be of benefit to your business. I suggest you follow @MayaP's advice and head over to the Ideate Board to see all of the Feature Requests other sellers have been submitting. There you can add your vote to existing requests, comment, or submit your own request

It's been 3+ years and I don't see this feature. Any update on this @JJ_? Seems like a simple fix to allow sellers to edit the text that is displayed when "out of stock" is set.

Thanks. I've liked and commented each of those. The fact that these threads are all years old doesn't give me much hope. Does Square have an option of doing custom work that I can pay for?
