COUPON CHANGES MISSING "ORDERS OVER CERTAIN AMOUNT"

For years I have offered the following coupon codes to my clients:

If they spend $60+, they can use a coupon to get $5 off.

If they spend $90+, they can use a coupon to get $10 off.

If they spend $120+, they can use a coupon to get $15 off.

It appears that the option to create coupon codes for "Orders Over a Certain Amount" is missing.  This is a serious issue for my business and needs to be rectified.  Please let me know what we need to do get this sent to those in charge to correct this issue.

Hi @jehedges and @JTPets, thanks for your patience here ! The product team got back to me and was able to provide more information.

To confirm, here are the features that will be migrated over from Square Online Coupon to Marketing:

  • Expanded coupon code support to include long codes and special characters—e.g., underscores and dashes
  • Added support for “100% off” coupons that apply to the entire sale
  • Added option to limit the number of times a coupon can be redeemed (coming soon)
  • Added option to limit the number of times a customer can use a coupon (coming soon)
  • Added option to restrict a coupon to sales over a certain amount (coming soon)
  • Supported coupons will be automatically migrated, with no changes required
  • Improved the in-product experience for reviewing and updating coupons

For sellers using the full features of Square Online coupons, the transition to Marketing will be postponed until these features are available. Meaning that until then, you can keep using Square Online to manage your coupons and create new ones.

Once the migration has happened:

  • New coupons: Any new coupons need to be created in Square Marketing, not your Square Online dashboard.
  • Existing coupons: For coupons created in Square Online, most coupon types will be automatically migrated to Square Marketing "as is".
  • Coupon changes: Some coupons will work differently after the migration. Other coupons will no longer be supported and need to be updated before they can migrate. You can learn more about these changes here. Note that some coupons might need to be updated to "match" Marketing coupons. If that's the case, you'll be ask to make the edits. You'll find more information about unsupported coupons on the Support Center.

I hope this is helpful. There are additional details about the transition in this thread, but let me know if you have any questions 🙂

Hi @jehedges and @JTPets, I'm sorry about the delayed response. I understand this is a frustrating experience.

I'm following up on the existing escalation to our Advanced Support Team, and I'm also reaching out to our product team for further insight on the migration from Square Online Coupons to Square Marketing. I'll get back to you as soon as I have an update.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

@Lou8  morning thank you for the update. I appreciate your work on getting us information. Call me crazy, but I did not read anywhere in there where a coupon code would be implemented that would allow us a threshold that a certain dollar amount to be spent before a coupon can be used. If I missed it please let me know.

@Lou8 These changes seem to have been reverted and I have been able to recreate my coupons.

Can you help me understand why a team would think it is ok to roll out something this big half finished?

Thanks

John

I’m driving and can’t login. So the thresholds are indeed back allowing us to create coupons spend X before you save X?

@JTPets, that is the million-dollar question.

YES! Why did they migrate over the system but does not offer the same, if not better, services! Having a coupon code to feature a certain amount needs to be spent in order to get x amount off seems like common sense.
