August 2025 Square Loans

Any insight on August loan trends and eligibility processes? 90% paid on our 3rd loan, monthly sales are actually higher than any month ever by a few thousand dollars but based off fewer larger sales. So processing volume is actually stating needs work and not green. Chances of seeing a new loan before those metrics are up?

This seems to be a constant source of anticipation and confusion here and has been for years and they haven't changed it so Im guessing they're not going to. Im also waiting currently at 74%. Ive received maybe 10 loans from Square. Always paid off ahead of schedule. Never have had a single chargeback or dispute in my whole history with them. Processing and business has grown every year. That being said I normally receive them between 65-75% and each one is larger than the previous which has contributed to the scaling and success of my business.. I called a couple of times because Im currently trying to secure funding to continue the trend. Of course I got the canned response everyone here gets that it's an algorithm and automated. I guess I can blame myself for anticipating and relying on something that has occurred 95+% of the time. Thats my biggest gripe with it. Is that if you're looking to make educated and planned moves for your business you cant really RELY on Square loans. I just feel like given the fact that with processing fees and loan fees etc and the fact that Im paying Square 5 figure numbers yearly that there would be SOME transparency. All that being said I am currently holding out for them before exploring other options and Ive felt this way before and they've usually come through during this window where Im considering it so hopefully really really soon.

I think what Im saying is when the fees start looking like a salary you're paying you expect the business relationship to be a little more...substantial. The lack of clarity cheapens the relationship.

Hopefully soon! I understand the rollercoaster of % my last few have been from 91% to 69% business has more than tripled but at 69% the 3x the last offer would have been better at 91%. Good luck to you. There has been a lot of loans going out last week.

No problem! Just watch your timestamp. Mine is almost like clockwork 1pm Eastern time and Saturday it's between 2-3 pm. My biggest day for offers for myself is Saturday.

I’m more frustrated with my processing volume no longer green and needing work now. I feel like that’s going to be a big factor in being offered a loan now, especially when this month’s sales are actually almost double my monthly average. The lack of transparency and customer services reps inability to do anything other than provide a copy and pasted answer telling me how they understand my frustration but there’s nothing they can do is above and beyond frustrating. All previous loans paid off 5-6 months ahead of time, sales consistently rising to the point the last 2 months I was well above my average and now almost double that, 90% paid off for the current loan, more than 6 months ahead of schedule. But still not eligible and now my volume need work. Make it make sense.

That changes daily and a great tool for us as user but not a maker or breaker. I have received offers with needs works one day and the next day it was back to good. Square take into account your history, prior loans, etc. Keep swipping is the key and volume (dollar amount) and new customers. Stay away from returns, disputes, and discharges.  Don't over-stress the metrics. Focus on the others. Good luck.

Hi @ApexSupply

Appreciate you taking the time to post and sharing your experience.

We know your business is important and we don’t take that lightly. We want you to be successful and to support your future growth. We understand that it is frustrating that we can’t guarantee that you’ll receive a new offer because you’ve had previous loans with us in the past.

To help ensure you get an offer that’s just right for your business, we review accounts on an ongoing basis and evaluate your account as a whole. The formula balances different factors of your business that may positively and negatively affect your business’s eligibility for an offer.

Don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you have further questions or concerns.

Thanks Adalynn,

I have contacted Square through that contact link previously and was given no real answer. Last week I missed an opportunity to become a distributor for a product line I wanted but had to settle for a different product. I have another one coming up. These are the decisions that have been made that have increased business year after year. I have an absolutely flawless track record with Square as well as with Square loans. It IS NOT the cheapest lending option available. However, it IS the simplest for my business. I have been processing a decent amount this week and have a few large orders this weekend and I really hope Square comes through for me before the week is over. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I hear you. And either to make you feel better or possibly more confused my last offer came after a couple days of no processing  and with "needs work" on processing

I know and I try to tell people the metrics are a good tool for us but not a guarantee or deal breaker for an offer. When you figure out the algorithm let me know 😆 until then just keep swiping is all we can do. Good luck

Sitting at 71% last loan came in at 61% really hoping for one right now as we got a new location and need the capital for our Grand opening next week. Super excited! Our online sales this weekend alone was amazing so far with our soft opening. Hoping it comes in soon! 🙏🙏 Good luck everyone who is waiting.

Hello, great to hear about the 2nd location. Last week was a good week for loans and a lower percentage at that. It's been rough for a few months and a high percentage to pay off before the next offer. You name the routine. Going off the last 2 weeks, I have seen from mid-60s to 90%. How are your sales, swipes, and volume of swipes, new customers vs. returning? Those are big ones they are looking for right now. A good, strong, healthy business. Which, by opening number 2 business, I am guessing is going well. Loans just took off last week or so. Offers are coming in all over the place from 60s to 90s. Keep swiping away and congratulations on the 2nd location!

Last week was a great week for offers. I'll be honest with you. You are on loan 3, you're building a relationship with Square, and above all, the algorithm is getting a better picture of your processing habits. It's been a good decade since I was at loan 3. I do remember loans 1-4 were all over the place as I was just starting out. Now, the algorithm and the metrics do help to speed things up a bit and can help with your processing habits to determine the right loan amount for you and your business. They are not a guarantee of anything. The metrics are not a guarantee of an offer if all green or if you need work in an area. I have seen people receive offers all the time. After loan 4/5, that's when my offers became more consistent, and as my business grew, so did my offers. Hold tight, keep swiping, and let that algorithm crunch the data on your business. Loans have picked up and are moving well right now. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Do the metrics not updating yesterday or today mean anything?
