I'm making the switch to the new Square Marketing now that it is available in Australia but I'm finding it a little confusing, plus there doesn't seem to be enough information available on each customer.
I've had an email/subscription pop up and a field at the bottom of my site since I started and I've successfully captured names and address via both. I amalgamated the names into a 'monthly newsletter' list so I could easily email those who opted in, and it was working well for me.
Now the switch to Square Marketing...and I have some queries:
1) I've copied those name and emails into the new customer directory but their opt-in status didn't carry over. I'm confident they all opted in as I triple-checked before uploading them. But, should any of them want to unsubscribe, how is that done? In the old system I could see they they had done so, and would remove them from my newlsetter list prior to sending a new email out. Does the site automatically remove them from my customer directory? Or just from the Email Subscribers Group? Laws are quite specific here and I don't want to accidentally email someone if they've unsubscribed.
2) I had an online sale recently (they're in short supply lately, lol!) from a new customer and their details have appeared on my customer directory... but there's nothing to say whether she actually opted in to email marketing or not. The name does appear in the Email Subscribers Group, but I want to be sure they opted in because I don't want to include them in my new emails if they didn't specifically opt in.
3) Where are the email and name details going to appear now when people sign up/opt in, via my subscription form and pop-up form?
The old Mailing Lists are still showing in the old Weebly section where they always were but I don't want to have to keep checking that for the time being. I think I have disabled the old forms that led to those mailing lists, and have created two new forms but I can't see in the new Square Marketing where the names are going to appear. This might all be clearer if I had regular additions, haha, but for now I'm struggling.
I've put this in the too hard basket for too long and really need to get my head around this!
