How can I enable customers to select multiple online items and choose a colour for each?

Hi! I am selling ceramic letters, customers will be purchasing multiple letters to spell out a name.

I would like to have one item 'Custom Letters'.

Within that item, I would like my customers to be able to select a letter and then select a colour for the letter. I have 5 colours they can choose from for each letter. This process would repeat until they have the desired number of letters.

What is the best way to lay this out?

Hi @AJCLAY,

That sounds like a fantastic way to personalise your ceramic letters! Here's one recommendation for how you could set up your item to allow customers to select multiple letters and their colours:

1. Start by creating a single product titled “Custom Letters.”
2. For each letter (A-Z), you could create a new variation, especially if certain letters will be priced differently.
3. For colour options, add these as modifiers to your item and include the 5 colours you provide.
4. You can ensure your modifiers are set up as required fields as well, customers are prompted to select colours before checking out online.

To make modifiers a required field, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to your Item Library.
  • Select the item you want to modify.
  • Scroll down to the Modifiers section and click on the ellipsis (three dots).
  • Choose Customize.
  • On the next page, you’ll find options to specify the number of required modifiers for order completion, as well as the maximum allowed modifiers.
  • Once you've made your preferred changes, select Done.

5. Consider adding a note to guide customers on how to select each letter and colour in your item description (e.g., "Select letter, then choose colour").

Something to note here, is that your customers would need to select the "Add to Cart" button each time they make a letter selection.
