Advice please on setting up an e-commerce web site

I'm new to all this and have a multitude of questions ( and some educated ideas on what is happening). I'm setting up a e-commerce web site on Square to accept PayPal and native Square payments. The website is going OK but I cant see what the payments page, the customer invoice/receipt or the shopping cart looks like (with notification I need to upgrade first).

What if an upgrade does not do what I want? Am I locked in? Can I make 1 monthly payment to investigate and then pull out if I need to?

I have accepted payments and my Square statement does not show SKU details. Given how my products are setup, I need this listed on my sales record. Is this a function on the upgraded plan? Is the PayPal integration an option already built it to the checkout configuration or do I need to import widget code?

My apologies for this but if Square had a readily available help line and not a government inspired maze of ..............

Hey @NannaJo,

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the community 🙂

While I'm not going to be able to provide you with all the answers here, we do actually have a readily available help line! You can call our support team on 1800 760 137. Lines are open Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm Melbourne time - you won't need a code to call within these hours. It sounds like it may be a good idea to get in touch and talk things through a little, work out exactly what you're trying to do with the website and which plan would be the best to try.

As a starting point:

  • You do not need to upgrade to see the payments page, the confirmation email or the shopping cart - you simply need to publish the website and go through the payment flow to see what it looks like! You can then refund the payment afterwards so you're not out of pocket!
  • You can certainly pay for a subscription month by month rather than yearly - this option will be available to select when you upgrade prior to finalising payment.
  • As far as I know at the moment SKUs do not display on Square item reports - if you can be more specific about which report / statement you're referring to I can check to see if there are any workarounds available!

All the best!
