(Australia) Membership form - collecting customer information - create questions - asking - editable

(Edit. Wait a moment. I have discovered item variations and modifiers.)

I've not been able to find if it is currently possible to create questions to display to the customer based on the item they buy from Square Online.

For the benefit of myself and any who might search later, if you know the answer or there is a help page or community post that I missed, please reply.

The following are close but not solutions and suggests to me that Square currently expects any such information to be gathered off-site.

This doesn't go far enough. There doesn't seem to be a way for sellers to create questions to present to buyers of a membership item.

This is related to the Customer Directory and the specific functions in the video look good but they are not enabled in AU and I cannot test.

Again, nice to be able to create fields in the Customer Directory but it seems we need to manually collect the information?

Hey @sqj,

Thanks for writing in! Glad to see you were able to find more info on variations, and modifiers - let us know if you have any other questions around customising items, or collecting info from your customers.

PS. I noticed it's your first post, welcome to our community 👋 🙂

As subject. (This post was not originally part of this thread. Its title was something like: Is it possible to restrict the quantity of an item to just 1 per order. ) However I am getting the impression that is not possible. There is a setting to link availability to stock levels but that is not the same as stopping customers from incrementing the quantity of an item.

For example, the answer here is not helpful to me although it probably did suit the OP of that post.

@Arie It is possible that you looked at my post when I was in the midst of investigating the "variations" and "modifiers" setting. However they have proven to be not useful, sadly. Those settings create additional items and are not flexible enough.

Therefore, the OP still stands. It seems that it is currently impossible to present a set of tailored questions to a customer (although I will glad to be proven wrong).

This is in the relatively simple context of wanting to create a form to take customer details (membership) and have them pay a non recurring fee.

Thank you for clarifying, @sqj

At this time, what you're describing wouldn't be doable with Square online subscriptions, or the custom fields via the customer directory.

It sounds like your ideal scenario would include the ability to have subscribers / members to answer some questions before being able to make the purchase. From your other post, I also gather you'd like to limit this to one membership at a time - is that right? Feel free to let us know a bit more about your business so we can pass on feedback to our product team, or see if there are any other workarounds we can think of!
