Samsung Galaxy S7 cellphone cannot connect to the magstripe reader?

I just received my mag square reader and have tried everything I can think of to see if I am inserting it incorrectly. Does anyone have a Samsung Galaxy S7 phone from rogers and are using the square mag reader? I removed my case, didn't make a difference. I turned blue tooth on and off and no luck. I have the app downloaded so I can take payments manually but from watching online, when I insert the card reader a message is suppose to appear on my screen but I get nothing. Can anyone assist?
Make sure you have pushed the reader into the headphone jack all the way. You will hear a click sound. I had the same problem with my S5, reader would not work until I pushed it in a bit harder, heard a click and then all was good.
