Search function not working

I don't know what's happened but none of the items I test search for are showing up anymore

I tried using the word oil as there are a number of oil timers on there and they used to work but now nothing. Same for everything else I tried.

The only time it has worked is when I went back in and edited a product then resaved and published. But I don't want to do that to over 600 products

Please help ASAP!

Are we any further forward with this, my client is (understandably) getting fed up - people are looking at the site and trying to use the search function and aren't able to do so.

I'm not sure what the turn-around time is, @DC2. We do have it set to a high priority, though.

Unfortunately I would have to report that my site is also not having a working search...

As it is a site with a lot of stuff that has to be added, I dont know if reindexing helps at this point or not.

I started a re-index of your site, @Sibren. That normally will make a big difference when there are search issues with a site. I would give it a few hours or more to complete and test your search again.

Unfortunately the indexing didn't do it for me... I still have no search content

Does it search words in titles and texts aswell? Cause that is the main issue I am having.

I'm having a similar issue with kapowauthentics.com. No idea if my site has been re-indexed or not.

I want my site users to be able to type in a number to see the corresponding product that they have already purchased, proving that the product was purchased from our site.

For example, if you type in 000496, the following page should show in results: http://www.kapowauthentics.com/kp000496michaelmyers.html

I started a re-index of your site, @justjilllauren, which should resolve that for you once it completes. Normally there's a re-index when a site is published, although it can sometimes take a while to complete.

Neither sites have a working search.  Do they need to be indexed?  Is there some sort of setting on the site that I need to update?

Indexing should happen automatically after publishing, although I went ahead and started a re-index of both sites manually just in case.

Hey Adam, my website's search function does not work as per the other people in this thread. Also though, it shows a generic banner which came with the layout and I can not change it - I've tried saving a banner from another page, but nothing happens. Could you please fix the search function and also look into the banner issue.
