same 2 phones but only 1 says it is compatable with square. what is the problem?

I just go the same version of the same phone that I have been using square on as my POS. Yet the error code is telling me it will not let me download the new version on the "new" phone. It even shows the two devices as being the same versions. Anyone have this problem?
