What does 'Deferrals Held & Released' on my transfer report mean, and how are they calculated?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: How the "Deferrals Held" is calculated for disputes in bank transfer?

May I know how the "Deferrals Held" is calculated in bank transfer? especially in the case of dispute resolved.

It looks the transfer amount is calculated as "Total Collected - Fees - (Deferrals Held - Deferrals Released)" in bank transfer info.

In the bank transfer of [redacted],  we noticed there are Deferrals Held [redacted] and Deferrals Released [redacted]; the Deferrals Released [redacted] is just the amount of the dispute resolved on [redacted], but we don't understand how comes the Deferrals Held [redacted].

And may I know why the transfer amount is not "Total Collected - Fees - Deferrals Released" if the Deferrals Released is just the dispute amount?

Thanks.

Hi @Alfred99

Thanks for your question!

Deferrals
Held refers to the total sum of all disputes filed during your transfer window. These are amounts that need to be held for any active, pending, or lost disputes. If a dispute is resolved in your favor or reversed, the Deferrals Released section reflects the funds returned to you during that timeframe.

In your transfer report for that date, the Deferrals Released amount would correspond to the dispute that was resolved. The Deferrals Held amount would represent the total of all disputes that were still active or pending during that transfer window.

For more detailed information about your Disputes history, please refer to the Disputes section of your Dashboard:

  1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and navigate to Reports > Disputes.
  2. Select your location.
  3. Use the date selector tool to refine a date range.
