URGENT Annual Subscription Membership renewals
There are so many bugs with the subscription service, but as far as I can tell it's the only way to sell memberships in the Square system.
First, the name subscription is insane, every time I call Square Customer support I find myself explaining that I'm talking about the kinds of subscriptions I'm selling, not the one's I'm signed up for with square. Seriously, it needs a UNIQUE name.
Most importantly, there is NO EASY WAY at the POS to tell if a customer has a subscription. So. Yeah. What's the point?
Also, Subscriptions are in a category called "unclassified". I mean, hello, this feature has been live for a year, and Square can't assign it a category? It's ridiculous that I can't generate a report from the square dashboard telling me how many subscriptions I've sold. Lame. Come on!
Next, I don't know about monthly subscriptions but Annual subscriptions is not something that people want you to keep their credit card on file. They want to be invoiced for annual subscriptions. And SURPRISE, the square system will automatically renew the subscription for the person when it generates the invoice - doesn't matter if the customer pays or not. Again, HUGE bug.
Finally, don't think about ever changing the price of your memberships. Forget inflation, there's nothing you can do. If you try, you will find yourself in a world of hurt where the system just goes around sending wrong invoice after invoice to your customers until they leave. Trust me, avoid it.
Other than that, and sitting on the phone with Square customer support for 8 hours over the past two weeks. Everything is great! Love Square.
