Square sync with GoDaddy

First, it’s funny that “Integration” isn’t an option here in the drop down menu. 
So who will step up to figure out why square is no longer syncing products with godaddy?  I’ve contacted godaddy who said “must be on squares end”. So now I’m here, so let’s see who square ships me off to!  🙄

Hey @peaceluvglass.  First off, this is a seller-to-seller community, so Square isn’t going to ship you off to anyone.  That being said, as usual some low-level drone at GoDaddy heard you say “Square” and decided that it would be easier to get you off the phone quickly by sending you to Square so that they didn’t have to do any real work.  Ha.

 

Here’s the thing.  There is no such thing as “Square sync with GoDaddy.”  Square provides APIs, etc, for third-party developers like GoDaddy to create their own “Sync with Square.”  Square provides and maintains the APIs and the rest is entirely the responsibility of the third party to manage and maintain.  I use third-party integrations with a number of apps I have — especially my accounting software Zoho Books.  And all developers who offer third-party integrations have the same basic rule — we provide the tools, and third parties are responsible for how those tools are used.  In this case, your issue is not with “Square sync with GoDaddy.”  It is with “GoDaddy sync with Square.”  That is an important distinction.

 

Maybe we fellow sellers (and a Square moderator, if I determine that we need to tag a few) can help a little.  Is your entire GoDaddy sync with Square broken?  Or, is it just certain items, or certain bits of information?  How long has it been broken?  What, if anything, did GoDaddy do to troubleshoot, besides hearing “Square” and washing their hands of the problem entirely?

 

I’ve checked around and see no reports of widespread API issues, and a quick review of the reported historical outages don’t mention anything like this.  It makes me think that whatever issue you are having is localized and might even be account-specific.

Thanks for clarifying; however I’m not a programmer just a retailer. And when I see something advertised that would work for my business I guess I actually expect it to WORK!  I’ve been with godaddy and square fit many years and all has been good, to include tech support. At least up until this past year. Yes, godaddy has an actual BUTTON that when clicked will import any ‘new’ items into godaddy. This no longer works at all. I get a message that says it’s importing but never does. I’ve been on the phone with them MANY times for this with NO resolution except go to square. Godaddy also USED to actually sync your inventory with square when items sell. This also is no longer working, so now I’m selling items I don’t even have in the store due to this. 😔

it’s just getting very frustrating for a seller with no tech spt. So I apologize in advance for my rant, but I’ve got lots of other things to do than this. ☹️

No apologies required, @peaceluvglass.  Trust me, I understand and sympathize, having been in your situation a few times.  I have one suggestion that often works, but in this case I don’t know GoDaddy stores so this might not be valid in your situation.  In the past, when I’ve had syncing issues between platforms, I found it useful to turn off the integration and then restart it.  More often than not, that has done the trick.

 

However, if there is any chance that you will lose data, you might want to think about this for a while first.  It seems that you have multiple issues — “ghost” items you no longer sell, items not syncing, etc.  If you have the time to do it — specifically a time when your store is closed and you can safely turn off your online store for a while — this “nuclear” option might do the trick and clear out any bugs, etc, that exist in your current integration.

 

I understand if you don’t want to do this, but it seems a valid option in your case.  Like I said, though, that is based on my experiences with other integrations, not with your specific GoDaddy integration.

Like @TheRealChipA has suggested, I recommend turning off the integration and then restarting it. 

 

Chip provided some good insights though into making sure you have some time to do this so that you can clear out any bugs or issues. 

 

I'm sorry that GoDaddy is not giving you any support. Please try to disconnect and reconnect the integration and if that does not work, circle back and we can try to brainstorm solutions.

I have been having the same issue since December 5, 2024 when the import function just stopped and would hang and never complete.  I too have been working with support on and off for over a month with GoDaddy.  Just wondering if anyone has a work around.  Yesterday Godaddy had me delete entire inventory on Godaddy site, so not my website shows I have NO inventory!  Said wait 24 hours for sync to complete (they said this last month too).  Today still no syncing.

 

Square support has been helpful and did suggest suggest disconnecting and reconnecting with Square, which I did no December 10, 2024 to no avail.  Going to get back online now with Godaddy support and waste a few hours trying everything over again.
