Square payment reader falling asleep

Is anyone else having the issue of the square  reader seemingly falling asleep between purchases? My iPad says it's connected but it won't take touchless and it just continues to circle for inserted payments. I have disconnected and reconnected device, bought a new reader, tried it on my phone, installed the update. The only thing that works is turning off the iPad ( 2yrs old only used for checking out clients)  and turning it back on in between each purchase.

@deboraham12  When it goes to sleep are you running the chip reader off the readers battery? If so it goes into power saving mode after a certain amount of time of not being used to save the battery. If you keep it plugged in to power it won’t go into power saving mode.

I read you only use your iPad for checking out clients, so I assume you don’t have any other Bluetooth item connected that may stop it from reconnecting. You could try going into the Bluetooth settings and click forget device and reconnect it via Bluetooth. That would clear out the old connection and make a new one.
