Square import - Sales Tax change

I had been using the old Quickbooks "Square Sync" app for years. Each day's sales were imported as a sales receipt into Quickbooks. It was working fine until February, when something changed. I believe this was a Square change. 

Instead of the individual items being marked as having sales tax, there is an additional line item in the Sales Receipt called "Sales Tax Item" that is set to the sales tax amount collected by Square. 

The byproduct of this is that my sales in QuickBooks are not correct, and the sales taxable sales are not reflected in QuickBooks in my Sales Tax report. So...the imported sales receipts are wrong. 

Is there a fix or setting to change this behavior? If there isn't, I'll have to go back to entering sales receipts by hand for each day, which is a real pain.

Since you stated that you are using or were using old Quickbooks "Square Sync", you may need to contact the company that made or makes that Integration to see if there is an update for it.  Square usually does not make integrations between Square and another company.  The other company either makes it or a 3rd party.  I have noticed that Header names or placement of some of the columns has changed and could cause these issues with your integration.  I still have individual Sales Tax per item in my transactions CSV files from Square.  Since you are using the 3rd party Square Sync, you may want to try contacting them to see if they have an update or maybe Quick Books did some update that has this new tax line because of other businesses having rounding errors because of sales tax.  Square calculates Sales tax per line where as Quickbooks did a calculation of sales tax per total amount that is taxable.  This would lead to 1 to 2 cents rounding errors per Transacation or daily sales depending on your imports.  Maybe Quickbooks adjusted for this?
