Double click on the home button to get to the multi task screen and then swipe up on all the apps to shut them off.
Make sure you have the latest versions of both the App and iOS.
To update the app go to - App Store / Update / Swipe down to refresh the page and then click Update all (if there are any updates)
To update your phone go to - Settings App / General / Software Update - Follow the prompts.
