Seeking help on Subscriptions & Discounts

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Subscription help"

 

I am working on creating subscription plans for our coffee. When I add a discount for the plan and try to save it it comes up with an error "something went wrong please try again later". If I leave the discount off it saves it. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi there again, @coteaucottage - Thanks for following up on this thread. I'm sorry to hear that you're still having a bit of trouble.

I reached out to the engineers I was previously working with on this. They have confirmed that they have completed the update from their end so discounts on subscriptions won't have that restriction anymore. Are you able to update the plan variation & add the discount now?

I'll keep an eye out for your reply! 👀

@coteaucottageI have not tried setting up subscriptions yet, but maybe try creating your subscription WITHOUT a discount and then save it. Then go back into the subscription to EDIT it, a see if you toggle on the discount option ?

I tried that right away and it still only gives me an error with the discount feature is turned on. Thank you for the response though!

Are you able to include the steps in your reply for how you're currently adding a discount to your subscription plan?

Hi Laurie,

 

I am setting up the plan that you use to make the subscriptions. It gives you the option under frequency to put a discount. If I put a discount in I get the "Something went wrong. Please try again later." error code and it will not save. If I remove the discounts on the frequencies then it saves fine. However then I can not publish this to my customers.

Hi @coteaucottage 👋 Violet here, following up for @Loren1. It looks like you still need help with setting up your subscription, so I kept the ball rolling on your inquiry.

 

I reached out to our Engineering Team regarding the issue you've described here. They've let me know that you will need to enable the discount at this specific business location from the discount settings so that you're able to use it on the subscription. Additionally, our engineers are going to also update this from their end so discounts on subscriptions won't have that restriction anymore.

A member of the engineering team will let me know once that has been completed and I will post here again at that time 🙂

You can update your discounts by visiting the Discount Page in the Square Dashboard.

There is no discount to turn on at that location. Everything is already on.

Is there a walk-through available for subscriptions that aren't item based? I'm looking at the possibility of adding a recurring subscription for $x amount. just would need customer flagged after they purchase the subscription to offer them discounts based on the subscription.


I tried setting up a subscription but it doesn't let me put an amount to charge unless I'm missing something....

At this time, @PartyManiaMD, at this time this is the only walk-through we have for setting up Subscriptions. Are you able to provide a screenshot of the screen you are seeing when you are trying to set that up?
