Images do not show in correct place in text after publishing?
An image is placed into the text area but the published page is showing the image in another area of the text. I have tried: 1) replacing the image; 2) deleting the image and reloading; 3) resizing the image - smaller. Any suggestions, please?

Hey there @darillyn. Without seeing a screen shot or two, suggestion are going to be hard. Can you provide those, along with a companion screen shot of how it looked in the web page editor? Thanks.

Happy to see your reply. The first screen shoot is from Builder and the 2nd from the published site. Thanks In advance.
Oops - it appears I do not have permission to upload images?? What can I do for a workaround?

The quickest way is to put the screen shots in a cloud folder. Then copy the share links and paste them here.
I need to check with the Community techs about that image issue. It happens too much for it to be a coincidence. I’ve never had that problem.

Perfect. Thank you! So here’s what I suspect is going on. When we mix images and text, the device screen size impacts how text and images co-exist. Responsive web pages (which allow pages to be reformatted on the fly so that they fit in a device’s window) reformat things. This means that sometimes what looks great on one device is not always so great on another device. It’s good, but it’s not perfect. This is why many people decide to force the formatting with an image then text after a line/section break, etc.
Honestly, I do not think that Square will be able to do much about your issue here. The reason I say this is that this responsive reformatting (that’s not the correct technical term, but hopefully you get the idea) is handled by the particular web browser that you are using to view the web page. Square usually can’t dictate how that reformatting happens. Each OS and each browser does its own thing.
I’m going to tag a few Square moderators and hopefully they can consult with the product team to determine if I’m missing something. But, for now, your quickest “fix” is to try not to flow text and images together inline. It would help to know what kind of page section type you are using for this. But, in the case of what I’m seeing, I’d recommend moving the image to reside above the paragraph that starts “In August…” with a paragraph/line break to separate them. This means your page will show…
Paragraph
Image
Paragraph
No, it’s not ideal. But it will be a more uniform and satisfactory user experience overall. I hope that makes sense, but if it doesn’t feel free to reply with questions and I’ll try to do better.

Thanks Chip,
I do understand what you are saying, I'm just in disbelief. But, that's because I'm not a coder. I am accustomed to working with desktop publishing apps and always, always, insert photos into the text. Ah well, just another challenge.
While I have your attention: My website is not for the public, but for my family - we are sorting 40,000 photos (memories) as a type of memoir/scrapbook for the family. Therefore, I have used alt text to allow members to use the year, given name or location to "find" themselves. So far the search engine does not recognize my alt text descriptions. Any suggestions? FYI, I do not have and will not have a store.
Again thanks for your prompt and easily understood help with this challenge.

@darillyn As I mentioned before, it could be that you are just not using the correct section type to build your pages. Square has a lot of options and often the trick is just picking the right “widget” for the job. Can you tell me what types of pages you are building, and more importantly what types of sections you are using? Also, if nothing else, maybe we could schedule a Zoom call for me to see your pages in the Online editor and I might be able to get an idea of alternatives that would be more suitable that what you are doing now.
As for alt-text, that and other SEO functions take time to propagate and be picked up by the search engines. And, I’m not talking days or weeks here. This sort of stuff must be crawled by search engine bots, then indexed so that your family can use their browsers to find it. The experts in this field say that 3-6 months is not entirely unreasonable, and that’s EVERY time you make a change. Also, you aren’t just dealing with Google bots here. If a family member is using Bing, or Duck-Duck-Go, etc, each of those has its own web crawlers and each of them have their own policies and procedures. Sometimes you can force the changes, and sometimes you can hire companies to force them for you, but that’s rarely inexpensive. Most of us just choose to wait and eventually good things happen.
